Installing TC 10.1.3 directly with a compact distribution

Hi guys,

I installed TC Rapid Start 10.1 and patched it to 10.1.3 on corporate server and next week I'll install 7 Rich Clients.

Which would be the fastest way?

I want to create a compact distribution with 10.1.3 and install all the clients this way.

Is this possible? And how?

Cem

You can record a silent installation when you start the TEM of 10.1.3, which will also include installing the base release.

Re: Installing TC 10.1.3 directly with a compact distribution

Hi Stefan,

Actually, what I want to achieve is to create a custom distribution file.

When I start TEM on a 10.1.3 Rich Client, this option is not available.

When I start tem.bat from the distribution image of 10.1, I see this option

But in this case I think only 10.1 files will be inside and I will need to patch again.

And If I create a silent.xml from 10.1.3 rich client, with which distribution image will I use it with? I have 10.1 and 10.1.3 patch

The silent installation through 10.1.3 will need both, the base and the patch distribution.

Re: Installing TC 10.1.3 directly with a compact distribution

TcRS 10.1.3 is not a super kit like Teamcenter 10.1.3, that is why 'compact distribution' option is disable. With TcRS we started super kit concept from patch 10.1.4 onwards. For TcRS 10.1.3 use the silent installation method.

Re: Installing TC 10.1.3 directly with a compact distribution

Then I go and download 10.1.4 directly Smiley Happy

So Ravi,

Can we install TcRS with 10.1.4 directly without installing 10.1.0 base?

Re: Installing TC 10.1.3 directly with a compact distribution

The short answer is no. You'll need both Tc10.1.0 and Tc10.1.4 for the Super Kit method. Start by launching the media TEM from Tc10.1.4 then when prompted for the "Original Media Location", enter the path to the Tc10.1.0 media (for instance C:\Temp\Tc10.1.0_win64. The "Update Location" will contain any/all patches. The path to the Tc10.1.4 media will be automatically added since it was used to launch TEM.

If you had more than one patch, like Tc10.1.4.1, then you would:

1. Run the media TEM from the latest patch.

2. Specify the location of the original media (example: C:\Temp\Tc10.1.0_win64).

3. The update location list will already contain C:\Temp\Tc10.1.4_patch_1_wntx64\wntx64.

4. Browse to intermediary patch (example: C:\Temp\Tc10.1.4_wntx64\wntx64).

5. Move the intermediary patch up in the list (Shift Up).

Final order will look like:

C:\Temp\Tc10.1.0_win64

C:\Temp\Tc10.1.4_wntx64\wntx64

C:\Temp\Tc10.1.4_patch_1_wntx64\wntx64

Best,

/Randy
