No email received while using EPM-notify

Hi,

I want to be notified when i'm receiving a task. For this purpose i'm using the EPM-notify handler.

Notify.png

Here you can see the TC Preferences i'm using :

  • Mail_OSmail_activated -> true
  • Mail_OS_from_adress --> (void, meaning that the field is empty)
  • Mail_internal_mail_activated -> false ( if i swith this value on true, i'm receiving the mail on my teamcenter mailbox)
  • Mail_server_charset -> windows-1252
  • Mail_server_name -> smtp.gmail.com (i'm using Gmail)
  • Mail_server_port ->25

we have make sure to enter the email adress on the person profil while creating this one.

Thank you for your help

Best regards.

Re: No email received while using EPM-notify

EPM-Notify sends internal mail only so having Mail_internal_mail_activated = false is disabling all your notifications. For external mail you need to use EPM-notify-report but it can only be used (reliably) on the perform-signoff task (Start, Undo, Perform or Complete depending on arguments). Use tc_mail_setup to test email before running the handler. Not sure that SMTP Gmail will work so another option is hMailServer.

Re: No email received while using EPM-notify

Hello Randy,

Could you please provide more information about the hMailServer ?
Could it be able to send email notification on the SMTP Gmail adresses ?

By the way I continued to look for answers, and apparently the Gmail SMTP might be only accepting public IPs, which is not our configuration. Maybe we could ask the SMTP server to allow messages without authentification. Have you ever heard about all of this ?
Thank you in advance Smiley Happy

Re: No email received while using EPM-notify

SMTP Gmail is not owned by you so making a configuration change to it is impossible. For complete control install the open source hMailServer (SMTP) then you are able to change settings whenever it is required. This is a critical point for security reasons.

Re: No email received while using EPM-notify

Hello Randy,

Just to keep you updated, the issue was indeed coming from SMTP gmail and also that the sending mail adress was out of the TC local network. We made it work with gmail one time, by changing the network parameters with an IT specialist but it created som issues with the functioning of TC. So at the end we used another mail server and it working fine.

Thank you for you help on this Randy,
