EPM-notify sends a message through Teamcenter mail, but EPM-late-notification sends an external email to the recipient. To make it work, you must have an email address entered for the user, and you have to set up the preferences that allow Teamcenter to connect to and send email through your company email server.

Hello,

I receive notify with EPM-notify handler without problem in my external mail.
So the issue isn't about sending or receiving mail in an external mail.
It look likes the issue is more about setting a duration with EPM-set-duration and sending notification with EPM-late-notification.

Any other thoughts ?

Best regards,

A similar problem was reported in PR# 7447968, and the solution given was that the handler was fixed in TC10.1.4.1, TC10.1.5 & TC11.2.1. Are you using one of these releases (or later)?

Hi,

I have the same problem with EPM-late-notification. I already have an appshare with GTAC last April and they confirmed that late notifications don't send in email. However this case still haven't been solved!! They even set it as "CANNOT DUPLICATE"

I've done some experiment on this case and I came on a conclusion:

When servers for mail and teamcenter is the same, late notification is sent. But when it's not or when mail server is separated on tc, email is not sent for late nofications.

I have already ping this to them but i got a solution that they close it as "Cannot Duplicate"

I am really disappoint on this!!!!

Anyway, you can do some test also with having same/different servers for mail and teamcenter. If you get the same error, kindly raise this to GTAC and mention PR 8008850. They might consider solving this on the next patch!!

Regards,

Lyka

EPM-notify sends internal email (inside Teamcenter) while EPM-notify-report and other subscription manager notifications are sent to Outlook (outside Teamcenter) which includes schedule manager for task-based notifications.

Use the utility tc_mail_smtp to validate that you have all the preferences set correctly (handlers rely on this util), until it can send messages the workflow notifications will not work. Validation:
tc_mail_smtp -to=bill.nye@thescienceguy.com -subject=Proof -server=myserver -body=C:\Temp\EmailMe.txt

If that fails then check:
1. The email address must be filled in on the Person record (Organization).
2. Mail_server_name = myserver.fqdn
3. Mail_server_port = 25
4. Mail_OSMail_activated = true
5. Mail_internal_mail_activated = true
Note: If you have active workspace then also:
6. ActiveWorkspaceHosting.URL
7. ActiveWorkspaceHosting.WorkflowEmail.URL

Check the syslog for details sent to tc_mail_smtp:
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[0] = '%TC_BIN%/tc_mail_smtp'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[1] = '-subject=testing'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[2] = '-to=bill.nye@thescienceguy.com'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[3] = '-server=myserver'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[4] = '-port=25'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[5] = '-charset=UTF-8'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[6] = '-user=wang.terry@plmcommunity.com'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[7] = '-body=C:\Temp\EmailMe.txt'
SMTP Mail returned: 0

If it is still not working, this implies the problem is due to the smtp server. You can use telnet to validate:
# Test connection
telnet 192.168.181.3 25

# Test connected
ehlo

# Set from address
mail from:infodba@tc.local

# Set to address
rcpt to:terry@tc.local

# Set body and send (type test return dot return)
test
.

# Quit telnet
exit

If you see:
[InternalId=126092477] Queued mail for delivery
451 4.7.0 Timeout waiting for client input

Then you still have an issue with smtp that needs to be resolved by your internal administrator (blocked, etc.).
