we have the following situation. We have one company in Germany and the other in Poland but both use the same teamcenter server. When we now start the Rich Client with the command "portal.bat -nl pl_PL" and try to login, we get a Error:
"The requested locale (Polish [pl_PL]) cannot be used by the Teamcenter server process.
Connect in one of the following locales: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese.
Alternatively, limit data entry to characters from one of these locales."
Is the Polish language pack not installed? But why do we have then the other languages available?
Thank you all for you answers!
Good afternoon, I think it depends on the encoding that you use in the database for Teamcenter
Configuring a non-UTF-8 environment for Teamcenter
Most likely you have in the database encoding we8iso8859p1 or we8iso8859p15 or we8mswin1252
You can use UTF-8 encoding, but its support in Teamcenter has some limitations:
Overview of UTF-8 configuration
Environment settings for UTF-8 environments
thank you for replying.
So i need to change the Oracle database encoding.
But the Installation is already finished. Is it now even possible to change these encoding to UTF-8?
Is there maybe a Workaround?
Much Regards !
What is your goal? Do you want to fill in the data in Polish? Or do you need a user interface in Polish?
You should think about everything very well before making a migration decision, we refused UTF-8 because of its limited support in Teamcenter.
You can read my topic here:
we just need the user interface in polish. The data to fill in can be in english or german.
Good afternoon, then I think you can enter Teamcenter with your locale (-nl pl_PL) and work under it, but you should limit data entry to characters from one of these locales (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese)
You must also ensure that all your CAD and any other data created or imported into Teamcenter contain only these languages.
