Schedule Manager mail notification and subscription issue

Hello,

I setup on tc11.4 fellowing the two steps,my i can't recive any email notification.

------------

"Setting up the mail system for notifications and subscriptions
Notifications and subscriptions utilize Teamcenter mail and the Subscription Manager. To receive
notifications and subscriptions, a system administrator must perform the following tasks:
• Set the value of the Mail_server_name preference to a name of a valid mail server. This task
needs only to be performed once.
• For every user, set the value of the e-mail address in the Person object for that user."

--------------

The SMTP and POP3 server should be ok,because i can receive mail subscription using subscription administrator.

Besides Mail_server_name, check these too:
Mail_server_name = myserver.fqdn
Mail_server_port = 25
Mail_OSMail_activated = true
Mail_internal_mail_activated = true

You can test it using the tc_mail_smtp utility:
tc_mail_smtp -to=bill.nye@thescienceguy.com -subject=Proof -server=myserver -body=C:\Temp\EmailMe.txt

You can check the generated syslog for the information that was passed:
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[0] = '%TC_BIN%/tc_mail_smtp'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[1] = '-subject=testing'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[2] = '-to=bill.nye@thescienceguy.com'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[3] = '-server=myserver'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[4] = '-port=25'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[5] = '-charset=UTF-8'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[6] = '-user=wang.terry@plmcommunity.com'
SMTP Mail invocation: arg[7] = '-body=C:\Temp\EmailMe.txt'
SMTP Mail returned: 0

If it is not working, this implies the problem is due to the smtp server.

Hi Randy,

Thanks for your help!

Mail_server_name = 192.168.181.3
Mail_server_port = 25
Mail_OSMail_activated = true
Mail_internal_mail_activated = true

Mail_OS_from_address = infodba@tc.local

test using:

tc_mail_smtp -to=terry@tc.local -subject=Proof -server=192.168.181.3 -body=d:\test\mail.txt

and receive the proof mail:

My question is:

1.How to find the syslog?

2.with these seting,i still can't get the schedule mail notification

Your from and to domains are different? Your Mail_OS_from_address is set to infodba@tc.local but your Proof shows from infodba@DC.tc.local? Typo?

There should be a tc_mail_smtp_XXXX.syslog in the directory where the utility was ran or in TC_TMP_DIR. If TC_TMP_DIR is not set in your environment then it is likely in TEMP.

Schedule Manager and Subscription Manager notifications are sent to Outlook (smtp) only and not the Teamcenter Inbox. Apparently, this is working as designed and requires an ER if we want internal mail. So it cannot be tested internally.

If the domain difference noted above is not an issue then you'll have to check the syslog or the smtp server log for more information. You can use telnet for some limited debugging:

# Test connection
telnet 192.168.181.3 25

# Test connected
ehlo

# Set from address
mail from:infodba@tc.local

# Set to address
rcpt to:terry@tc.local

# Set body and send (type test return dot return)
test
.

# Quit telnet
exit
