TC Classification License

All: We have just implemented TC Part Classification.

Original thought was that only classsification admin users needed a license. I am being told now that everyone who classifies a part needs to have a classification license. Is this true?

Also, the licenses we have are floating and seemed to get locked to that persson until they log off TC. Is there a different way. This is causing aall kids of problems.

Thank you in adavnce for your response.

Yes, everyone who will "author" an ICO will need a license. Users do not need a license to search for ICOs. You can restrict the ICO authoring capability to a specific role (best practice), like ICOAdmin, and only allow someone with that role to check out a license (license options file). They will keep it for the whole session which is beyond our control (Siemens hardcoded).

Re: TC Classification License

Randy thank you. Not really what i wanted to hear. Are you saying that closing TC will release the license? That is also not a good thing. There ought to be a way of releasiing the liceense without having to close it down. People usually need to keep on working on other things in TC after classifying a part.

Licenses in Teamcenter are always named user and some are even locked to the user for one month, so others are not even able to use it after the user closes his session.

What kind of classification licenses do you have?

  • classification_user
    • locked until the Teamcenter session is closed
  • nx_access_tcclass
    • locked until the NX session is closed
