TCRS Testing & Production Env on a single machine

Hi,

Probably by next month, we will be implementing TCRS on our client.

Their IT has decided that testing & production will be implemented on a single server, without virtualization since they are in a tight budget. Virtualization/ separate machines will be implemented by the second phase.

The final setup will be two instances of TCRS on the server, one for testing & another one for the production where users will connect.

Has anyone tried or currently using this setup?

Have you experienced any issues so far?

For the consultants, do you think this setup will work fine? Or would there be any possible problems?

Hoping for your replies.

Thank you!

Regards,

Lyka

You will have problems. While most of the ports can be reassigned to prevent issues there are still some sticking points like, subscription monitor. Some services cannot support multiples installed on the same machine (despite separate naming). This is really a bad idea.

I agree with Randy. You should not run both a test and prod environment on a single server. Maybe they should look at Amazon Cloud (or another cloud based service)? It would give them the option to spin up a server for test and only have it running when needed. That would keep costs low as you pay for the time the server is running.
