Teamcenter Access to a Vendor/supplier from outside company LAN

Hello Experts

we are using Native NX and will be moving to TC shortly, as part of POC we wnat test how the suppliers can access TC 4T RAC from outside

Currenlty Vendors are accessing AGile PLM from outside company network, (Agile team has whitelisted/opened the agile weblcient port so that they can access)

  1. If the vendor users need to acecss Teamcenter from their site, what are Ports/changes that need to be required from IT side (assuming we are using failrly OOTB tc with minimal customisation, users use 4T RAC with NX, they need to get otw updates)
  2. I understnad there will be performance impact, any lesson learnt from the experts on forum who have used this kind of setup/architecture

Thank you

First, Teamcenter is Named User. Meaning that every user that accesses Teamcenter must have a license. You probably don't want to pay a bunch of extra money for licenses used by other companies.

Second, exposing Teamcenter to the external web is dangerous. There are some supported methods leveraging the Supplier Collaboration, specifically Data Share Manager, for sharing data outside your network. You can even share Teamcenter meta data as well as files to non-Teamcenter partners using Briefcase Browser. Briefcase Browser is a web-based version of Teamcenter for viewing meta data, structure, and NX files. More expensive (cost and effort) levels of Supplier Collaboration are also available.

You may want to discuss this with whomever you're purchasing Teamcenter from.

Thnaks Randy, i will check on brifcase option. on the license wise seems like management is not worried about cost if they can give access (but most of IP data which will be exposed and we need to build additional customisations to TC..). but i will checkout more about TC briefcase.

Yes. That is what the Briefcase Browser package enables. Basically, presents them with Teamcenter in a browser that links to files in a OS folder. He can make changes to the BOM structure, read attribute values, add/remove components in the assembly, etc. Then send it back to you. You decide/import what you want to happen with the changes they introduced.
