Re: Teamcenter installation

Hi @Mohsen ,

I think it's better to use a populated database (export from prod and import to upgrade test system) for the test upgrade as maybe the 11.3 to 12.1 upgrade changes data on the database; otherwise, you could face troubles while performing the prod upgrade.

So the steps will be:

  1. install fresh 11.3 on upgrade system
  2. export DB from prod
  3. import DB to upgrade system
  4. copy volumes (above all dba's ones) from prod to upgrade system
  5. check if 11.3 upgrade system is working
  6. upgrade test system to 12.1

@Mohsen :

another error missing types:

ERROR - 2019/05/15-10:17:43.594 UTC - NoId - 39014: The specified type TC_Project does not exist

that looks not really good

maybe it would be better to start again with a fresh install of TC 11.3 and upgrade to 12.1

as @PaoloC already mentioned

You could do a first test with a fresh OOTB (no custom template, no changes in config, ...) install of TC11.3 and upgrade it to TC 12.1

--> if the above works, then

setup a cloned TC 11.3 for testing the upgrade

Another point for after the cloning operation and before the upgrade. You will need to install the Tc12.1 BMIDE and import your custom template before you can upgrade Teamcenter and resolve any errors before proceeding. You'll have to provide the upgraded template in TEM during the upgrade.

Hi @PaoloC
I am working on the step 1 and it's almost done.
Could you please tell me about the other step? How to export and import the DB?

Hi @Mohsen ,

you need to use the default datapump directory or set it to a new value (look at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/29077007/how-to-change-directory-dumpfile-in-impdp).

Then you have to execute the following commands:

export:

%ORACLE_HOME%\bin\expdp infodba/infodba schemas=infodba log=YOURDUMP.log directory=TC_DATA_DUMP dumpfile=YOURDUMP_%%U.dmp filesize=2G COMPRESSION=ALL

import:

impdp \"system/manager@tc as sysdba\" SCHEMAS=infodba FULL=N
dumpfile=YOURDUMP_N01.dmp,YOURDUMP_N02.dmp,YOURDUMP_Nxx.dmp
logfile=YOURDUMP_import.log
directory=TC_DATA_PUMP
table_exists_action=replace

The above is at Oracle 11gR2; you have to validate it against Oracle 12.
