TsFtsIndexer fails to run first time

Creator
Creator

I am executing below command after frest installation.

runTcFTSIndexer.bat -status

Getting below error:

ERROR - Cannot connect to any running TsFtsIndexer operations on port: 2013

ERROR -java.rmi.RemoteException: TsFtsIndexer lookup failed. TcFtsIndexerRemote at com.siemens.teamcenter.ftsi.util.RmiUtil.connectRMIServer(RmiUtil.java:198)
at com.siemens.teamcenter.ftsi.core.TcFtsIndexer.status(TcFtsIndexer.java:107)
at com.siemens.teamcenter.ftsi.core.TcFtsIndexer.main(TcFtsIndexer.java:332)

Event Log is:

Active Workspace Indexing Service error: 0
Cannot find SCMEventManager class.

Active Workspace Indexing Service is running.

Is this issue related to port number? I tried other open port but no change.

Env:

Teamcenter 11.4.0.4(20180403.00) with Active Workspace 3.4

Windows Server 2008 R2

you probably need to start the indexer first as service

runTcFTSIndexer.bat -service

then you can do: runTcFTSIndexer.bat -status

and you would see something like this
2018-07-11 16:16:44,920 INFO - No status to output. There are no running flows.

Hi Akash,

Thanks

as Roman65 said - start the runTcFtsIndexer.bat with the switch "-service" first.

You need to know that the Indexing topic in active workspace has two components:
#1 the Solr Database also know as this Active Workspace Indexing Service (windows service name) or Indexing Engine (TC_ROOT\solr-xxx)
#2 the Indexer (the SOA 4tier client portion that extracts the to be indexed data and feeds it to the Solr database) - the tool you are running from TC_ROOT\TcFTSIndexer

Hi Markus,

Thanks for your response.

I'm getting below error from Event logs for the Active Workspace Indexing Service.

Description:
The description for Event ID 0 from source Active Workspace Indexing Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Active Workspace Indexing Service error: 0
Cannot find SCMEventManager class.

When logging in to Solr console through http://<hostname>:8983/solr, below error message is displayed.

SolrCore Initialization Failures Solr Admin   {{core}}: {{error}}

Thanks

Thousif

can you try to start the solr service as a command window instead of a windows service - it would be interesting, if you see errors in the cmd-window and/or if you are able to login with http://hostname:8983/solr...

I have not seen a lot solr errors yet - so this one is new to me...

Hello Markus,

Yes, I'm running solr service as command window using  runSolr.bat. There are no errors as such in solr.log file (attaching the log).

When i tried to  login http://hostname:8983/solr..., it does allow me to enter credentials but ends up with same error.

@Lumi

Do you run runSolr.bat "run as administrator"?!
