We are using Teamcenter 9 (126.96.36.199_a01_7(20150727.00)) (about to upgrade to 10.1)
is there a method for selecting multiple item revisions and exporting out all datasets held within those revisions, would be extremley handy if a record of this action could be exported with all the data eg.
item id / revision / title /
a. dataset xxxx.pdf
b. dataset xxxx.pdf
thanks in advance
You can use PLMXML export (Tools-> Export -> To PLMXML) with Transfer Mode set to "ConfiguredDataFilesExportDefault".
This mode exports all the named references of selected Item Revisions to chosen location.
It creates folder with name (object_string) of the first revision selected and downloads all the physical files in it.
You might have to change the behavior of PIE_IMF_FOR_CAD preference if you are exporting CAD data.
"Determines whether PLM XML import/export functionality uses the IMF ITK
function, or the ug_clone utility to import/export CAD files from ImanVolume.
YES Uses the IMF ITK function to import/export CAD data files.
NO Uses the ug_clone utility to import/export the following
dataset types: UGMASTER, UGPART, UGALTREP,
UGSCENARIO, and NXSIMULATION"
Thanks for that, that will do about 50-60 % of what our DM team needs
unfortunately it doesn't seem to work at the item level (where we do our correspondence)
at the item revision level it works fine.
to be a pain in the backside, is there a way to configure the export so the datasets download out to folders ? it appears to export all the datasets out to a single folder at the moment
You can create your own closure rule/transfer mode which will allow you to traverse from item to item rev to datasets in "PLM XML Import Export Adminsitrator".
Please refer to attachment for an example of similar closure rule which traverses from Folder- > Item(s) -> Item Rev (s) -> datasets . It creates a folder locally with same name as that in Teamcenter and download all datasets there. But even this will export everything in one folder though you dont have to individually select item revisions.
To configure export so the datasets download out to folders per item, i cant think of any other option but to write a script.
May be - a perl or batch script which reads item ids from a txt\csv file and generates a batch of plmxml export command (plmxml_export cmd line utility) per item.
Thanks for the reply Priti
i appreciate your input, makes it alot easier to go to our admin team with real info as apposed to just a question
