How can we remove the release of a product to be accessible again?

Hi guys,

New to Teamcenter Smiley Happy

I've released an item and of course it is read only.

What can I do to access that data and modify it again?

Re: How can we remove the release of a product to be accessible again?

1) Revise it.
2) Use Rel-Man utility to remove Status.
3) Write a one-step Workflow to remove status.

Re: How can we remove the release of a product to be accessible again?

Larry pretty much nailed this. If the issue is that you released something by accident you can roll back the application of that status either with a reciprocal workflow or using the release_man utility with the -unrelease action. More commonly you would revise a previously released item and author on the new revision which preserves the prior release for future reference purposes or as the revision others will use isolating them from the "noise" of a working revision being actively worked on.

It's a command line utility called release_man most likely located in %TC_ROOT%\bin. I don't know for sure. Haven't used it in years.

This utility was the only way in Teamcenter Engineering, with Teamcenter Unified Architecture you just use the unrelease option through a workflow.

The workflow doesn't force you to copy the revision to a special folder, which is needed for the release management utility.

Re: How can we remove the release of a product to be accessible again?

Hello, we are still stuck on Teamcenter Express V5 (and NX 7.5), and we also are currently without an admin. I have infodba access in the interim, and we recently found several Items that were accidentally released. These are Items (not IRs) and should've never been released. I'd like to remove or reverse their release status, and would really appreciate step-by-step instructions for creating this workflow.  Any help you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

KLINE

Re: How can we remove the release of a product to be accessible again?

1) Login as infodba

2) Go to Workflow Designer app

3) File --> New Root Template

4) Pick Development Release on "Based on Root Template"

5) Delete these

6) Draw an arrow here between start and Status.

7) Delete the one called EPMSETSTATUS

8) edit the action on EPM-set-status to "DELETE"

That should do it

Re: How can we remove the release of a product to be accessible again?

@CemAlpay that process will remove the release from the Item?  This apply for full on TC too?  I'm using TC 10.1, and could use something that will remove the release of Items, not Item Revisions, that shouldn't have been released.

It should do that Dave.
