How to change the name of multiple dataset names, single or in bulk

Hi

Due to a recent issue we have uncovered where AWC 3.1 cannot download datasets that contain special characters, does anybody know of a method for us to change the name of datasets to remove the special characters?

We have over 1000 to do. They are all in a Released status.

Can we change the underlying dataset object name?  (Visible name vs object name)

Many thanks, N

You might be able to use:
install -find_control_chars infodba infodba dba WorkspaceObject object_name

And:
install -replace_control_chars infodba infodba dba WorkspaceObject object_name 07 ““

Using the Hex code of the illegal char. It's a little tedious providing Object/Attribute pairs one-by-one but it works.

Sorry for the late response Randy.

Due to contractual reasons we are not allowed to change the dataset names. They must remain as provided to us by client.

I raised an IR, it has now been converted to a PR.

We use AWC 3.1 with IIS.  The issue does not seem to occur should we use JBOSS.

We are awaiting the feedback on the Problem Report.
