Hello ( TC11 and NX11 ) ( + Also happened with earlier TC10 and NX9 combination )

When I try to open someone elses made .PDFs this error comes:

"Forbidden ( No localization for this text in package: 'com.teamcenter.fms.clientcache')"

  • If I press open repeatedly 3-5x times it opens the .PDF but it's time consuming to press open multiple times to remove the constant error prompt.

I think pdf file might be missing from the volume. Can you please check if you can download pdf file from the Named References of the dataset?

Yes .PDF is available. This happens to all .PDF for all items that have not been saved by my username.

Is there any mention in your TcRAC log (C:\Users\<username>\Teamcenter\RAC\<datetime>\<user>_TcRAC_<datetime>.log

Or in FSC stdout or stderr log on the server:
TC_ROOT\fsc\FSC_<servername>_<svcuser>_stdout.log
TC_ROOT\fsc\FSC_<servername>_<svcuser>_stderr.log

They may indicate a missing file which is likely a language file. Note: After fixing the first one then you may get more until all the missing language files have been fixed (13+). To fix a missing file, create a "dummy" file as a placeholder in the volume where indicated. These files are usually related to a custom packaged deployment from BMIDE. You can see the version of these Datasets (files) listed in TC_DATA\model\FileVersions.txt.

Check your ACL rules. You might have the PDF restricted to OWNER only.

Where to find ACL = Access Control list ?
Is it same as ="Access Manager" -> I get error "Only DBA's can run this application" ?
( DBA probably is = database administrator )

I'm a basic drawer in this small company <50 persons which bought Teamcenter 1/2 year ago and it is really horrible to get it working right. There have been all kinds of problems. The administrator is someone who is probably some external consultant or such ( Funny thing is that the mid-boss is ignorant to contact the consultant which sold the product because everytime he contacts it costs money to the company and yes I get headaches from this arrangement. Because every fix happens very slowly if not at all. )

Hello,

To find ACL you have to enter Acces Manager application.

Here are the global access rules for your business objects.

To be able to make changes over here you must have a dba role.

I recommend to test if the problem is from access problems in other way before asking your Tc admin to make changes.

The test is done using object based acces rules.

Create  a new item and under item revison load a PDF.

Ask another user to use that pdf, in case he has the same problem, right click the pdf and go to access and add that user as a new accesor with full rights for your item.

Check again if the problem gets solved.

If the problem gets solved, the global acces rules must be modified and i can explain you how to do it.

Have a good day and keep us updated.
