Since the file is on the client side then no downtime is required. Your admin can edit the file and then run genregxml.bat as @BenBroad stated.

So id we have multiple users with this issue, we would have to do this on every workstation with the issue?

You would need to do it on every machine where the client is installed. You can have your admin adjust the client installation to include this for new installations but you'll need to go back and fix any installations that are already installed.

Our asmin just tried this on my computer, and I still get the error when I select the ugmaster (circled in yellow).  The drawing (in red) works fine, and the Item Revision(in blue) displays the model in the viewer.  Any other thoughts?

Did your admin execute genregxml.bat?

Maybe delete the RAC temp folder (for me this is C:\Users\<user>\Teamcenter)?  Exit RAC before you do this.

You cannot use the DirectModelViewer to view the UGMASTER dataset to my knowledge without increasing the TcVis license level.

Here's what I have on the two viewers:

  • TCTwoDViewer: is used to view 2D images (such as drafts).
  • DirectModelViewer: is used to view 3D images (such as 3D models).

These viewers have different View Tools. For example, TCTwoDViewer doesn't have "Rotation" Tool, because it's not necessary for 2D model view.

  • If we want to view 2D model TCTwoDViewer is optimal.
  • If we want to view 3D model use DirectModelViewer.

TCTwoDViewer can't read 3D-model data: if we assign TCTwoDViewer for Dataset with 3D model file references (such as *.step etc.) we will get empty window.

But ability of using DirectModelViewer depends on your License level. For Base license level we can use only TCTwoDViewer. DirectModelViewer is available starting from Standard license level. For all license levels (by default) we can use DirectModelViewer for the following datasets types: DirectModel and DirectModel3DMarkup. If we want to set other license level (higher or lower) to use in Teamcenter, we can do it in: %TC_ROOT%\portal\plugins\configuration_*\client_specific.properties: "PortalViewer_License_Level=***"

NOTE: after this change don't forget to delete %USERPROFILE%\Teamcenter and run %TC_ROOT%\portal\registry\genregxml.bat.

I'm pretty sure the admin did.

Deleted the RAC folder, and no change.

Maybe I/we are going about this wrong...what would be the easiest way, for the typical user to click on the ugmaster to see the 3D model, and the ug dwg to see the 2D drawing view?

Working with GTAC, it appears not having "Teamcenter Visualization Mockup" installed, is the cause of the "Failed to open document" error.  Waiting on IT to install for me now.

GTAC also provided this document, to get Tc settings correct.
