Hi friends ,

I am a mechanical engineer with 1 year experience in mechanical design field . Now i am going to learn PLM Teamcenter . and i heard that it requires knowledge of prog langauges C and JAVA. I dont know much about these prog languages, so is it going to diificult for me. 

And which prog language is most used in plm teamcenter?

what about the job opportunities ?

It depends on your role for Teamcenter.   If you are going to be a Teamcenter Adminstrator only then there is no requirement to learn any language.  You only need to know programming if you plan on doing any programming.

I heard that , now days teamcenter customisation is having very wide scope and more oppurtinuties and it requires knowledge of JAVA.

what is your opinion .

Yes knowledge of Java is required for customising teamcenter. You can program your way through once you have a good understanding of how scenarios can be achieved in teamcenter manually.


I would also recommend knowledge of c++ as well.

Different areas in Teamcenter with prog. language requirements could be summarized as:


1. Tc Admin: No language

2. Server side customization: ITK (C/C++)

3. Rich Client, being eclipse based, requires Java knowlege

4. SOA API (CPP, JAVA, .NET) : required to develop Tc integration with third party softwares
