This question was asked during the live webcast:Q: If the MCS is on the bottom of the part, can you make the clearance plane stay .100 away from the top of the part even when the part thickness changes?A: yes, rather than using a fixed Z value, set the Clearance Option to Automatic Plane and set the “Minimum Clearance Distance” to 0.100. This works no matter where the MCS is located. The operation will set the clearance plane at the safe distance above the Part geometry.
This question was asked during the live webcast:Q: Do you think that the new template should be added to the existing files or added to my own files. Ie mill_contour vs myfileA: New templates should definitely be added to a new file, which will show up as another “Type” when you create an operation or geometry group. This will avoid confusion and make version updates easier. We didn’t show how to add a new type for this Tech Tip - we just modified the existing type file with a new included object.
This question was asked during the live webcast: Q: What is the rule for "Create Parent"? Is it pure name association?A: Yes, the template object’s parent will be created in your part file if it doesn’t already exist. If a parent already exists by that name, and it is an eligible parent, then it will be assigned as the parent to your newly created-from-template object. It is possible that a parent could exist with the matching name, but not be compatible with the newly created-from-template object, such as turning-specific geometry items. In cases like these, a new parent of the correct type is created with a unique name, so that the new object will not have a parent that doesn’t make sense.
