Measuring robotic cell

Hi,

I'm working on a project which involves simulating and optimizing of existing and working robotic cell. But there is a problem, there isn't cell layout and any other documentation from which i can get positions or distances between devices in this cell.

Is there any method to map this cell in order to get reliable measures? Do you have any idea how to do this using only basic tools?

Kind regards,

AK.

Re: Measuring robotic cell

Depends on the size and the fact if you have the CAD-data.

You can get your distances by:

  • uploading the robot-programs and place your fixtures and parts according to it
  • for all other objects you will have to measure manually and place them manually

Another approach is a laser scan.

Several companies offer such scan and the data preparation as a service.

The latest versions of PS can load such point-cloud as a .pod-file.

You can use these points for measuring and even collision-checks.

Re: Measuring robotic cell

Process Simulate/RobotExpert contains a Calibration toolkit.  You will have to add it to your customization.

Re: Measuring robotic cell

Thanks guys for your replies. I suppose i will have to do this measuring all distances manually and make use of robot-program.
Once again thanks for yours advices.
