I have been trying to connect to a PLC from PS 10.1 via an OPC connection.
The laptop PS is installed on, is connected with ethernet cable to a switch, and the network adapter of the PLC is also connected to the switch.
The problem is that PS client can't see the OPC server.
I have tried to install the OPC server on another machine, and connect it to the switch but, the result is the same, PS can't see the OPC server.
How can this connection be made?
my operation system: windows 7 prof. x64
process simulate 10.1 (64bit)
on my system i see the local opc server.
i think during the installation of INAT OPC server, something went wrong.
During the installation process some additional installations are performed in background.
Please make sure, every thing is installed correctly.
You can try to use the "OPC Test Client" of the INAT software to check if there is an OPC server available.
I have the license now for VC, but still no connection appears in PS.
The softwares I have been trying with are RSLinx and INAT OPC Server.
I noticed that all these OPC Server softwares are installed under C:\Program Files (x86).
Meaning that they are 32bit applications. My Process Simulate is a 64bit application.
Does this affect the fact that the OPC connection is not visible in PS?
When I test the connection in the test Client it shows that the connection is good, but in PS I can't validate any connection.
Should I install a 32bit PS?
i have installed PS as 64bit software
inat opc is installed as 32 bit software.
on my machine i can select the opc server in process simulate.
i haven't done any other settings for OPC.
Thank you guys for the tips, i managed to connect to the PLC via OPC.
The problem was that i didn't have installed the OPC Core Components Redistributable (x64).
I'm having a similar problem, but I have the OPC Core Components installed.. But still can't see any of the OPC servers running..
I have tried 3 different OPC servers. All with the same result.
- Kepserver OPC
- INAT OPC
- Matrikon OPC
I'm hoping to try Simatic OPC today but I don't think it's the OPC server..
Any ideas anyone?
