In Test.Lab Vibration Control, can I control on a strain gauge, rather than an accelerometer? I tried switching my control to a strain gauge, but got a message “Control channels should have acceleration or compatible dimensions”.
Is acceleration the only thing that can be controlled on?

No, you are not limited to controlling on an accelerometer. It is possible to control on strain. In this case, there may be some confusion because you are switching from an accelerometer based control to strain.
Try the following:
1. Turn off the accelerometer control channel. The system then may indicate the control profile needs to be strain units, not acceleration. The old accelerometer based control needs to be removed and a new profile defined.
2. Then go to the “Sine Setup” worksheet and press “Edit Reference Profile”.
3. Assuming the current control is defined in acceleration units (like g’s), then pick “Reset Table”. Say “Yes” to resetting the table.
4. Now the profile can be created in units of microstrain (example: uE).
Hope that helps.
